New Cornell Songs CD Underway

An update from Projects Manager Krista Galie '15:

After serving as the Chorus GM during my junior year, I was ready to take a step back from Chorus leadership and enjoy my senior year as an active member; however, I just couldn't stay away. This semester, as Projects Manager and a member of Cornell's sesquicentennial class of 2015, I am fortunate enough to join up with Glee Clubber Matt Linden to have a hand in producing the new Cornell Songs CD to be released this coming spring in honor of Cornell’s 150th anniversary.

The new CD is the first of its kind since 1975 and will feature the Chorus, Glee Club, and CU Orchestra and will include a combination of songs that are sung jointly, by the Chorus only, and by the Glee Club only, as well as orchestral arrangements and a cappella pieces. Shout out to the Class of 1957, the generous class who is sponsoring this musical endeavor – thank you for helping us preserve the Cornell Songs and Big Red pride for decades to come!

The recording process thus far has been both exciting and rewarding. Even though recording a single measure several times in a row to get that final consonant just right can be tedious, it’s special knowing that the work we do in Sage Chapel will be preserved and cherished as alumni, students, faculty, and beyond immerse themselves in Cornell’s rich musical tradition. So, keep a lookout in Spring 2015 for the brand new Cornell Songs CD! We look forward to sharing our hard work and treading The Hill through song with all our alumnae very soon!
