Vice President's Address

Hello Everyone!

The Chorus has had a very busy, very exciting semester! From singing Husa’s
Apotheosis in Rochester with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, to touring the South, to
performing the Rachmaninoff Vespers in our own Sage Chapel- it’s all been amazing!

Such opportunities would not have been possible without the support and guidance
of our amazing alumnae. Throughout this past semester especially, we’ve been
striving to keep our alums connected in new ways. Last summer, former Vice
President April Miller and I created the Facebook group “Cornell University- Past
and Present,” as a forum for both current members and alumnae to interact. Since
assuming Vice President, I’ve been updating it regularly with pictures, videos
and statuses about what the Chorus up to. Newly appointed historian Jessica
Budiman ’13 is an all-star at documenting Chorus events, and there’s always so
much to share! We’ve found it to be a great way to keep in touch with alums and
I encourage any with Facebook accounts to please join and post away. I also
encourage any Twitter fans to follow us as well- CUChorus1921!

Tour this semester was especially incredible thanks to our amazing alumnae
support system. To name just a couple key players, Marguerite Schaffer ’10 and
family fearlessly guided us throughout Texas and provided us with awesome Texas
travel bags- equipped with a CD of Texas tunes! Becky Coatney ’09 and family
welcomed us into their home in New Orleans and fed us with some of the most
delicious Cajun cuisine. Connecting with alumnae on tour is one of the most fun and
exciting parts about the experience for us, and we’re so thankful for everyone who
helped make Southern Tour ’12 possible!

Next on the agenda is Reunions Weekend- June 7-10th. Although it will be so sad
to sing with our beloved director Scott Tucker for the last time, I am ecstatic about
all of the alumnae already registered to come back and sing! It is certainly going
to be the biggest Reunions Weekend for Chorus I’ve seen thus far, and I know it
will be a very special and memorable weekend for all who are able to attend. If you
haven’t already registered, you can do so under Concerts and Events > Reunions at
cuchorus.com.

Lastly, keep an eye out for information regarding Homecoming Weekend in the fall!
The weekend is September 21-23 and we’ll be hosting an event for alums just like
last year, and potentially a tailgate as well! I’m so excited to have been elected Vice
President and am looking forward to what’s in store for the coming year. If you ever
have any questions, suggestions, or just fun Chorus stories you want to share, don’t
hesitate to email me at vp@chorus.cornell.edu!

With lots of Chorus love,

Jen Dilzell
